You may have heard already: Para Kore’s Zero Waste kaupapa is growing and growing! This year, the programme will be available in several new rohe and we are currently looking for kaimahi.

Para Kore is a not-for-profit Māori organisation, (by Māori, for Māori) with charitable status. Para Kore is a zero waste organisation with a kaupapa based on whakapapa to Papatūānuku and is expressed through an experienced and skilled team who work regionally delivering the Para Kore programme to marae and Māori organisations. The Para Kore whānau are passionate about, and committed to, achieving a zero waste Aotearoa.

The six waste advisors we are seeking (Waikato, Rotorua, Wellington, Gisborne, East Coast, and Hawkes Bay) will deliver the Para Kore programme to marae, organisations, kōhanga, kura in their own rohe.

Become part of the vision for all marae within Aotearoa to be working towards zero waste by 2020. Para Kore is seeking six self-managing waste advisors to provide waste minimisation education through the ‘Para Kore’ programme to marae within Waikato, Rotorua, Wellington, Gisborne, East Coast, and Hawkes Bay. You will need a degree of fluency in te reo Māori and knowledge of tikanga Māori, be experienced in working with Māori and marae and be passionate about composting and reducing waste. The positions requires approximately 16 – 20 hours a month. Applicants must be available to work weekends, especially Sundays! The work entails giving presentations, doing waste checks and running zero waste wananga/workshops with marae. Proficiency with using a computer is necessary and the applicant must have a laptop, phone and reliable vehicle. Training given and resources provided. The successful applicant will also:

·         Liaise with Para Kore Support Committees which include members from councils, funders, iwi authorities and other interested parties.

·         Complete deliverables and accountability reports as required.

Skills and Experience required are:

Can do attitude, professional personal presentation, self-motivated and self-managing, optimistic with a solution-based outlook, positive, up-beat, flexible, initiative, well organised, effective time manager and self-starter with a positive attitude that’s infectious. Humble, empathetic, patient yet determined. Able to self-reflect.

Passion, understanding, respect are virtues required for this position as well as a love for Ranginui, Papatūānuku me ā rāua tamariki.

Skilled communicator with great interpersonal skills; understands the concept of a ‘deadline’ and can meets deadlines without fail, as well as be of the highest integrity. People with a love for getting things in on time, learning, excellence, and reducing waste are preferred.
