Ka tuku mihi atu ki nga matua kua hinga atu ki te ao nunui o te moe kua haere i te ara whanui e takahira e te tini e te mano na reira e te Kingii e moe e moe nau mai ki te ao.

It is with sadness that we extend our deepest condolences to you on the passing of Kīngi Tūheitia Pōtatau Te Wherowhero VII.  On behalf of Te Korowai o Wainuiārua, and the three iwi we represent, Uenuku, Tamahaki, Tamakana, we wish to convey our sympathy during this time.

Kīngi Tūheitia’s passing marks the end of an era, and we grieve with you as we reflect on the remarkable legacy he leaves behind. His reign was characterised by values that unite and uplift our people. His contributions to our collective identity and the advancement of our shared aspirations will be remembered with deep respect and admiration.

As we mourn the loss of Kīngi Tūheitia, we also acknowledge the transition of leadership to Ngāwai hono i te pō, who will take on the responsibility of carrying forward the legacy of her father and her beloved Kuia, Te Arikinui Dame Te Atairangikaahu, the sixth and seventh Māori monarchs. This new chapter connects te awa tupua mai i te kahui maunga ki tangaroa.

We reflect on the journey of the Kīngitanga into the future.
